Types of Work Visas in Malta

Requirements to Obtain Malta Work Visas

  • A valid passport with at least two blank pages
  • Two recent passport photos
  • Proof of travel medical insurance for the Schengen area
  • An employment contract with a Maltese company
  • Evidence of accommodation in Malta for the duration of stay
  • Proof of sufficient financial means to support yourself during your stay

Additionally, an employment license is required for working in Malta. To obtain this, you must submit:

  • A completed employment license application form
  • A copy of your CV
  • A copy of your visa, if already in Malta
  • A cover letter from your Maltese employer
  • One passport photo
  • References or testimonials supporting your qualifications
  • A medical certificate of health
  • A vacancy report showing that the employer attempted to fill the position with qualified Maltese nationals

Application Process

Foreign nationals should contact the Maltese embassy or consulate in their home country for the latest visa requirements. After gathering the necessary documents, complete the visa application and submit it to the consular officials.

Employers must apply for the employment license on behalf of foreign workers. They should prepare the required documents and submit them to the Employment and Training Corporation in Malta, along with any applicable fees.
